Additional information

Puerto Rico has never had autonomous coining authority — this is a modern commemorative issue, almost certainly produced under a licensed or private minting arrangement rather than any governmental mandate from San Juan or Washington. Juana Díaz is a municipality in the island's south-central interior, historically associated with sugar cultivation and the annual Three Kings Day festival, one of the most elaborate in Puerto Rico.

The peseta denomination is a deliberate historical reference to the Spanish colonial coinage circulating in Puerto Rico before 1898.
