Additional information

Puerto Rico has used the US dollar as its official currency since 1899, so this 2009 "peseta" is not a circulating issue — it belongs to a wave of municipally themed collector pieces produced in the late 2000s honoring Puerto Rican towns and their patron saints. San Lorenzo, a municipality in the island's eastern interior, takes its name from Saint Lawrence, martyred in Rome in 258 AD. These silver strikes were produced in limited runs with no monetary function, positioning them closer to medallions than coins despite their denomination labeling.
