Valverde del Júcar is a small municipality in Cuenca province, and like hundreds of similarly minor Spanish localities, its town council issued emergency fractional paper money during the Civil War when Republican-zone coinage effectively vanished from circulation after 1936. The Consejo Municipal issues were purely local instruments — accepted at the baker's, the cooperative, nowhere else — and most were printed on whatever stock was available, which is why survivors frequently show thin, fragile paper prone to edge splitting.
The Garrido Mora reference places this among the rarer provincial Cuenca emissions.
