Reverse description The Uruguayan national coat of arms is displayed prominently at centre, featuring the quartered oval shield with a radiating sun at the crest, laurel and olive branches flanking the shield on either side, and the shield's quarters depicting a balance scale, a fortified hill, an ox, and a horse. A circle of nineteen five-pointed stars surrounds the coat of arms, representing the nineteen departments of Uruguay, arranged symmetrically along the upper and lateral periphery. The denomination numeral '1' appears immediately below the coat of arms, with the word 'PESO' inscribed in bold letters beneath it along the lower field. The entire design is bordered by a beaded inner rim.
