| Additional information |
The Fall of Bataan commemorative program emerged from a sustained push by Filipino veterans' groups to have the Bataan Death March formally recognized on Philippine coinage. The 1967 brass piece is a pattern — never approved for circulation — and one of several compositional trials struck that year as the Central Bank evaluated materials for a proposed commemorative peso.
The brass variant is the least frequently encountered of the known pattern strikes for this type. KM#PnB38 designation places it firmly in the pattern series rather than any proof or specimen classification.
