| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion displaying the golden key of the Gulf of Mexico between two landmasses, the lower left displaying the royal palm tree, and the lower right bearing horizontal blue-and-white stripes representing the original Cuban provinces. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces, and flanked on either side by a laurel branch and an oak branch tied at the base. A five-pointed star appears at the apex of the cap. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 PESO is inscribed along the lower periphery. Two small five-pointed stars flank the shield at the mid-field level. |
