Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion showing a golden key between two rocks and a sunrise at sea, the lower left bearing horizontal blue and white stripes representing the original Cuban provinces, and the lower right featuring a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces, and flanked by two symmetrical branches of laurel and oak tied at the base. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, with two five-pointed stars flanking the denomination 1 PESO inscribed along the lower rim.
