| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Bernardo O'Higgins, Liberator of Chile, rendered in fine relief and occupying the majority of the octagonal field. The effigy depicts O'Higgins in military uniform with epaulettes and decorations, his hair styled in period fashion. The encircling legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs along the upper periphery, while the inscription LIBERTADOR B. O'HIGGINS appears to the right of the portrait in the field. The engraver's name R. THENOT and the Santiago mint mark So are present in the lower field. |
