Obverse description The left portion of the note is occupied by an intaglio vignette of a seated allegorical female figure resting against a globe and agricultural implements, enclosed within a decorative guilloche border. The upper centre bears the bank title EL BANCO INDUSTRIAL and CARTAGENA-COLOMBIA in bold letterpress, with the denomination UN PESO / ORO LEGAL displayed centrally beneath a guilloche underprint in green. A mortgage clause text in Spanish occupies the lower centre panel, and the serial number and série designation appear in red at upper right and lower left, with three manuscript signatures of El Presidente, El Gerente, and El Secretario along the bottom margin.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in green on plain paper, with a central rectangular panel containing the full text of the contract between the Colombian national government and the Banco Industrial dated 19 May 1898, including excerpts from Ley 24 de 1905. A large guilloche oval vignette with the numeral 1 appears at centre left and right, flanked by decorative cornerpieces, with marginal annotations noting the 4% annual interest payable on 30 November of each year and the amortisation schedule of ten years by annual draws.
