Easter Island holds no monetary authority and issues no legal tender. These brass pieces are privately produced fantasy tokens with no governmental sanction from either the island's Rapa Nui administration or the Chilean state — Chile has administered the island since 1888, and the peso remains the only lawful currency there. The "Chilean States" issuer designation is itself a fiction.
