Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms is centrally positioned in the field, featuring a shield divided into quarters bearing a golden key between two landmasses, a rising sun, and a royal palm, flanked by a bundle of fasces on each side. An oak branch to the left and a laurel wreath to the right frame the lower portion of the shield, while a Phrygian cap on a pole surmounts the crest. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, and the denomination 1 PESO is inscribed along the lower periphery, flanked on each side by a five-pointed star serving as a decorative divider.
