Stettin-based emergency money from the notgeld period, issued by a private commercial firm rather than a municipality or savings bank — an issuer type that often gets overlooked in favor of the more collectible town series. F. Hessenland G.m.b.H. was a retail business, and notes like this circulated internally or locally to ease the chronic small-change shortage that plagued German commerce from 1916 onward.
The Tieste reference places this in the Pomeranian commercial notgeld cataloguing, a category where surviving examples are genuinely scarce simply because no one thought to preserve shop scrip.
