| Obverse description | Octagonal zinc notgeld token with a beaded inner border running along all eight sides. The numeral '1' appears prominently at center in the field, representing the denomination in Pfennig. A circular legend surrounds the central numeral within the beaded border, reading 'RATHENOWER DAMPFMÜHLEN A.G. RATHENOW', identifying the issuing company and town. The overall design is plain and functional, consistent with wartime emergency small-change coinage. |

| Additional information |
Rathenower Dampfmühlen A.G. was one of hundreds of German industrial firms that issued zinc notgeld pfennigs during the acute small-change shortages of 1916–1922, when wartime metal requisitions stripped circulation of copper and nickel coinage almost entirely. Factory-issued tokens like this one functioned as wage scrip redeemable only at company-affiliated canteens or shops, tethering workers' purchasing power directly to their employer.
