Obverse description Portrait of King George V in an ornate engraved vignette at upper right, set within an elaborate scrollwork cartouche. The denomination £1 appears in a decorative panel to the right, with the trilingual value inscription — "ONE POUND", "ΜΙΑ ΛΙΡΑ", and Arabic — across the centre of the note. The issuing authority "ISSUED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF CYPRUS" is printed in letterpress below the central text, with the Commissioner of Currency's signature and date at lower left, all against a finely engraved guilloche background.
