Additional information

2011 marks the year South Sudan formally seceded, taking with it the majority of Sudan's oil revenue. The Central Bank of Sudan issued new coinage that same year as part of a broader currency stabilization effort ahead of what would become a prolonged economic crisis. Coins from this transitional window are often found in middling condition — they circulated hard and fast in an economy under serious strain.
