| Obverse description | The face is executed in intaglio on an intricate guilloche underprint, with the bank title 'MARTINS BANK LIMITED' arching across the upper portion in bold letterpress. An oval vignette at left contains the Isle of Man arms, while a circular vignette at right presents the Tower of Refuge set against a coastal backdrop; between them, the promise-to-pay text is rendered in copperplate script over the denomination 'ONE POUND' in bold capitals. The date, place of issue, and General Manager's signature appear in the lower central field, with ornamental corner medallions bearing the numeral '1' completing the design. |
