| Obverse description | Black intaglio print on white paper. The upper register carries the bold bank title "PARR'S BANK" flanked by an elaborate scrollwork surround, with a central vignette of the Isle of Man Arms — a crowned triskele roundel supported by a rampant lion and a horse passant, surmounted by a crown and the motto "DIEU ET MON DROIT". A heraldic shield with supporters occupies the upper-left corner cartouche, while a saltire emblem fills the upper-right corner. The lower register contains an oval panel with the promise-to-pay text in copperplate script, the denomination "ONE POUND" in a bold inset cartouche, and provision for the manager's manuscript signature and date, with the denomination numeral "ONE" repeated in a lower panel; the printer's imprint of Waterlow & Sons, Limited, Great Winchester Street, London, E.C. appears at the foot. |
