Reverse description A cantharus (two-handled drinking cup) depicted in profile view, rendered in low relief with handles extending to either side and a flared foot below. Three pellets, the standard value marks of the quadrans, are disposed around the vessel in the field. The motif is a common reverse type on Central Italian aes grave issues, executed in the robust, somewhat stylised casting style characteristic of third-century BC Italian bronze coinage.
