Burks Falls is a village in Parry Sound District, a region of Ontario where small independent dairies served scattered rural and cottage-country populations well into the mid-twentieth century. Trade tokens and milk coupons of this kind were issued by local dairies to lock in prepaid delivery customers — once you'd bought a book of chits, you were unlikely to switch suppliers. The orange color coding distinguished quart denominations from pints or half-pints within the same dairy's system, reducing handling errors on early-morning doorstep rounds.
