Comments

This note was issued by the Austrian provisional government in the immediate aftermath of liberation in 1945, as Soviet forces occupied Vienna and the western Allies moved through the rest of the country. Austria found itself with three competing currencies in circulation simultaneously — old Reichsmarks, Allied Military Schillings, and these emergency Austrian issues — creating serious valuation problems before the Schilling was formally reestablished.

P#113 is among the lowest denominations in the brief 1945 Reichsmark series, a stopgap that was invalidated within months.
