Obverse description Black and green intaglio print on green guilloche underprint. A fine-work vignette at center portrays rice cultivation in the fields, evoking the agricultural character of the occupied territory. Plate letter prefix S appears alongside the serial number, with bilingual inscriptions in Japanese characters and romanized Malay arranged across the note.

Reverse description Printed in brown on a pale underprint, the central vignette presents a large banyan tree with spreading aerial roots set before the ancient Hindu-Buddhist temple complex of the Dieng Plateau, rendered in fine engraved line work. Decorative flame-shaped cartouches housing the numeral "1" flank the design on both left and right margins. The denomination inscription arches across the upper portion of the note within a curved guilloche banner.
