Reverse description The central vignette presents a finely engraved intaglio view of an ornate ancient stone stairway, flanked by guardian figures and elephant moonstones at its base, characteristic of classical Sinhalese temple architecture. The bank title in Sinhala script and the denomination in Sinhala appear at upper centre, with the English legend ONE RUPEE at lower left and the Tamil denomination at lower right. The printer's imprint — BRADBURY, WILKINSON & CO. LD. NEW MALDEN, SURREY, ENGLAND — appears at the bottom margin, set against a green guilloche underprint with scalloped borders.
