This note occupies a genuinely odd place in monetary history. When Bangladesh declared independence in March 1971, the new state had no currency of its own ready to deploy. Pakistani rupee notes already in circulation — including this 1964 issue — were briefly permitted to continue as legal tender, some later overprinted or defaced to distinguish them from Pakistani stocks still flooding across the border. The Government of Pakistan attribution on Pick 1 reflects the issuing authority at the time of printing, before partition; Bangladesh's claim to the series comes through succession, not reissue.
The watermark — a crescent and star motif inherited from Pakistani paper stock — is an irony few catalogers bother to note.
