Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Republic of Seychelles occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported on either side by two billfishes (marlin), their bodies arching gracefully around the escutcheon. Atop the shield rests a helm surmounted by a crest featuring a sea turtle. A ribbon scroll below the shield bears the Latin motto FINIS CORONAT OPVS. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES arcs around the upper periphery, while the date 1977, flanked by two raised dots, appears in the lower field.
