Comments

The "Santa Dollar" is a novelty item — a privately produced, non-legal-tender curiosity sold as a seasonal gift or novelty, not an obligation of the United States Treasury. Despite the official-looking signatures of Treasurer Rosario Marin and Secretary John W. Snow, whose names appeared on genuine Federal Reserve Notes from 2003, this piece carries no monetary value and was never authorized by any government body.

Marin, notably the first immigrant to serve as U.S. Treasurer, held the post from 2001 to 2003.
