The sentimo series launched in 1967 marked the Philippines' full decimalization under the new piso system, replacing the centavo denominations of the Commonwealth and early Republic periods. At the lowest face value in the new currency structure, this piece saw heavy use and was produced across most of the Marcos administration's first decade — a period that ended abruptly when martial law in 1972 began reshaping nearly every civic institution, including the currency itself.
