The 1 Sentimo has been functionally obsolete for years — prices in the Philippines rounded away from centavo denominations long before this issue was struck. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas continued producing it largely to satisfy legal tender requirements and vending machine specifications, not because street commerce had any use for it. By the time this 2017–2019 run was minted, most Filipinos hadn't seen one change hands in a transaction for the better part of a decade.
