| Obverse description | Printed in red-brown on white paper, the note bears the heading ORANJE VRIJ STAAT / POST NOOT at top centre, with a serial number A/1 01681 in the upper right corner and a large denomination numeral 1/6 at far right. At left, an affixed One Penny revenue stamp of the Orange Free State is visible within a boxed vignette. The body of the note carries several numbered clauses of text in Dutch, with a manuscript payee line reading AAN HET POSTWISSEL KANTOOR / BETAAL AAN followed by handwritten entries, and the denomination spelled out EEN SHILLING & ZES PENCE; two circular cancellation stamps dated 13 AUG 98 and 23 SEP 98 from Heilbron appear across the face. |
