Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of King Edward VII wearing an imperial state crown, the effigy rendered in high relief after the design by George William de Saulles. The king is shown in robes with visible drapery at the shoulder. The circular legend surrounding the portrait reads EDWARDVS VII D:G:BRITT:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP:, with a raised dot stop at the conclusion of the inscription. The field is smooth and the rim is defined by a plain raised border.
