Obverse description Uncrowned, bare-headed effigy of King George VI facing left, modeled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, whose initials HP appear truncated at the base of the neck. The legend encircles the portrait in Latin along the periphery, separated from the inner field by a fine toothed border. The king's features are rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail characteristic of Paget's style.
