| Obverse description | Central field displays the national coat of arms of Peru, featuring a shield divided into three sections depicting a vicuña, a cinchona tree, and a cornucopia, flanked by laurel and palm branches tied with a ribbon at the base. The arms are rendered in fine detail against a plain field. The circular legend BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ arcs around the upper and lateral periphery, with the date 2016 positioned in the lower exergue. The coin exhibits a plain, slightly recessed border typical of the contemporary Peruvian Sol series. |

Tacna's delayed return to Peru — not until 1929, after 49 years of Chilean administration following the War of the Pacific — made it one of the most politically charged cities in the country's modern history. The Arco Parabólico became the focal point of that identity, constructed in the 1950s to mark the entrance to the main plaza and designed by local architect Enrique Few Caballero. The coin belongs to a long-running commemorative circulation series honoring Peru's regional architectural and natural landmarks, issued incrementally across multiple years.
