| Additional information |
The Aerican Empire is a micronation founded in 1987 with claimed territories including a colony on Mars and a patch of Antarctic wilderness. Its physical coinage is genuine struck metal — not tokens — produced in small runs for collectors and citizens, though "citizenship" in this case is a voluntary, dues-free affair conducted largely online. The 2012 Solari issue belongs to a period when several micronations began commissioning legitimate mint-struck pieces to distinguish themselves from the flood of fantasy coins.
