| Reverse description | The celebrated St. George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci, depicting an armoured St. George on horseback, his cloak billowing behind him as he drives his lance downward into the vanquished dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The composition is rendered in high relief with dynamic energy, the dragon writhing beneath the rearing horse. The date 1893 appears prominently in the exergue, and Pistrucci's initials B.P. are incuse to the right, with the mint mark M for Melbourne positioned to the left of the date. |
