Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold, angular Naskh script, arranged within a plain circular border. The legend reads the full royal titulature of Sultan Ala al-Din Masud Shah, proclaiming him the supreme sultan, glory of the world and the faith (Ala al-Dunya wa al-Din), Abu al-Muzaffar Masud Shah, son of the Sultan. The lettering is deeply struck and vigorously rendered in the hammered tradition, with individual characters exhibiting the characteristic irregularity of Delhi Sultanate coinage. Small decorative pellets appear above the topmost line of text. The coin's flan is slightly irregular in shape, typical of hand-struck silver issues of the period.

Reverse description The reverse field is filled with a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold Naskh script, enclosed within a plain linear border with decorative pellets at the cardinal points. The legend invokes the reigning Abbasid Caliph al-Musta'sim Billah, Commander of the Faithful, affirming the sultan's religious legitimacy and nominal subordination to the Caliphate. The script is deeply and prominently struck, with the characteristic bold strokes of Delhi Sultanate hammered coinage. The flan shows slight irregularity at the edges, consistent with hand manufacture. The overall composition is well-centred, with the inscription occupying the full breadth of the die.
