| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large, complex monogram-like cursive Chinese character or ligature, flanked on either side by a floral rosette ornament. Two Chinese ideograms reading 軍餉 (Jūn Xiǎng, 'Military Payment') are inscribed in the upper portion of the field. The overall design is executed in a bold, hand-engraved style characteristic of cast Chinese silver coinage of the period. |
