| Reverse description | An intaglio vignette of the tall ship Dar Pomorza under full sail occupies the left portion of the note, rendered in dark blue-grey tones against a teal and red guilloche underprint with interlocking geometric motifs. At centre right, a large circular guilloche rosette frames a blank field, beside which the stylised 'NBP' monogram appears in script; the denomination '1' and 'JEDEN ZŁOTY' are positioned in the upper right, with 'NARODOWY BANK POLSKI' along the lower margin and a vertical legal tender inscription along the left edge. |

By 1990, the 1 Złoty note was an anachronism in active circulation — hyperinflation had so thoroughly eroded purchasing power that the denomination was essentially worthless in real terms. Poland was issuing notes of 500,000 and 1,000,000 Złotych that same period. This note belongs to the twilight of the communist-era monetary system, printed and released just before the 1995 redenomination that replaced 10,000 old Złotych with 1 new Złoty, wiping denominations like this from practical use entirely.
