| Obverse description | The right half of the obverse is dominated by an intaglio vignette of a young African woman in three-quarter profile facing left, her head elaborately wrapped in a decorative headdress interwoven with tropical foliage rendered in multicolour. To the left, two stylized antelope heads are set against a dense geometric guilloche underprint in green, gold, and ochre tones, with a large blank oval at centre reserved for the watermark.
