China's kilogram Panda gold coin has been issued annually since 1982, but the 90mm format at this weight places it among the largest recurring bullion programs of any sovereign mint. The People's Bank changed Panda designs annually — a policy that held until 2016, when the mint shifted to a fixed obverse with only periodic design updates, ending decades of year-specific collecting incentive.
