| Obverse description | Central design features the national coat of arms of Nicaragua: a equilateral triangle enclosing five volcanic peaks rising from the sea beneath a radiant sun and rainbow, flanked by a liberty cap on a pole, all enclosed within a wreath of laurel and oak branches tied at the base. The circular legend 'REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA' arcs around the upper periphery, while the independence date '15 DE SETIEMBRE 1821' curves along the lower periphery, both separated by small five-pointed stars at either side. The entire device is rendered in high relief against a flat field, with a beaded border encircling the coin. |
