Peru's Banco Central de Reserva issued this brass series as the country cycled through successive military and civilian governments — the 1968 coup that brought General Velasco Alvarado to power did nothing to interrupt production, and the type continued striking without modification straight through his agrarian revolution and into the Morales Bermúdez years.
