Obverse description A boldly rendered Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus) occupies the central field, depicted in dynamic flight with wings fully spread and head turned to the left, its feather detail rendered with fine engraving. The bird is shown in a slightly upward-ascending posture, conveying power and movement. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE curves around the lower periphery of the field, in raised Latin characters. The overall design is set against a smooth, unadorned field, typical of the milled pattern coinage style of this era.
