Bradbury Wilkinson printed this note from their New Malden facility, where production continued until the firm was absorbed by De La Rue in 1990 — the same year this series was retired. The Gambia's dalasi had only been introduced in 1971, replacing the pound at a rate of 5 dalasis to 1 pound, so P#6 belongs to the earliest generation of dalasi-denominated currency the country ever issued.
Watermark-only security was already considered minimal by the 1970s, but for a small West African nation with limited transaction volumes, it was deemed sufficient for the period.
