Prepared in 1991 as Yugoslavia was dissolving, this note was never placed into circulation. The federal monetary system it was designed to serve effectively ceased to function before the series could be released — Slovenia and Croatia declared independence in June of that year, and the National Bank of Yugoslavia lost practical authority over much of the territory it had previously served within months of this note's completion.
The engraving team split across the two faces is notable: Hrvanović and Damjanovski on the obverse, Medecijan and Obradović on the reverse — a division of labor typical of ZIN's workshop practice rather than any single master's hand.
