Disney Dollars were a private scrip currency issued by The Walt Disney Company beginning in 1987, accepted at face value across Disney theme parks, hotels, and retail locations. They were deliberately sized and printed on cotton-blend paper to approximate the feel of U.S. Federal Reserve Notes — a deliberate design choice intended to reinforce their spending legitimacy within the parks rather than read as a novelty coupon.

The 2008 series coincides with late-period Disney Dollar production; the program was quietly discontinued in May 2016. Unspent notes remain technically redeemable at Disney properties, which has kept many from reaching the secondary market in quantity — an unusual situation for a private scrip issue of this age.
