Obverse description Black and white intaglio-printed note on white paper with a green underprint. The central vignette displays the Nova Scotia provincial coat of arms flanked by allegorical male figures, with a hunting scene vignette at lower left and a sailing ship vignette at lower right. The bank title 'THE BANK OF NOVA SCOTIA' arcs across the top centre beneath the 'DOMINION OF CANADA' header, with the denomination numeral '10' in ornate counters at each corner and the words 'TEN DOLLARS' in bold letterpress across the lower centre. Issued at Halifax, N.S., dated July 2nd, 1877, with signature lines for Cashier and President along the lower border.
