Obverse description The obverse is printed in dark green and purple tones on a light lilac underprint with intricate guilloche work. A central intaglio vignette presents a formal portrait of King George VI in military uniform within an oval frame, flanked by the bilingual bank name 'BANK OF CANADA / BANQUE DU CANADA' in bold letterpress. The denomination '10' appears in each upper corner, the date 'OTTAWA, 2ND JAN. 1937' is inscribed below the portrait, and two facsimile signatures of bank officials appear at lower left and right.
