| Obverse description | At centre, a palm tree, a reclining camel, and a dhow sailing on stylised waves are depicted within a beaded inner circle, forming a composite national emblem of Eritrea. The surrounding legend is rendered trilingually in Tigrinya (Ge'ez script), English, and Arabic, separated by star ornaments, and reads 'ERITREA' in each language. The year of issue '1994' and the Pobjoy Mint privy mark 'PM' appear within the lower portion of the legend. The design is enclosed by a toothed (reeded) outer rim. |
