Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, with curled hair, drop earring, and necklace, after the portrait by Raphael Maklouf. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field and FIJI 2003 arcs along the right field. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower centre of the coin. The flat mirror field of this proof strike provides strong contrast against the finely detailed relief of the portrait.

Reverse description Facing frontal effigy of King Richard II, crowned and robed in ermine-trimmed regalia with a large floral brooch at the chest, rendered in a medieval artistic style. To the lower left, a heraldic shield bearing three passant lions is accompanied by a sword; to the lower right, a crenellated castle tower with a pennant is depicted. A dotted inner border frames the design, with the arc legend LOST TREASURE OF KING RICHARD II along the upper field and the denomination 10 DOLLARS in the lower exergue.
