Additional information

Issued to mark the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer on 29 July 1981, this coin was one of dozens of commemorative pieces released across Commonwealth nations that year. Fiji, still operating under a Westminster-style government following independence in 1970, participated as a Commonwealth realm with Elizabeth II as head of state — giving the issue legitimate constitutional grounding rather than the purely commercial motivation that drove many non-Commonwealth producers to strike similar pieces.

KM#48 was struck by the Royal Australian Mint under contract, as Fiji had no domestic minting facility.
