An engraved portrait of King George V in military uniform occupies the right half of the note, with a large circular watermark space to the left and an ornate guilloche vignette in the centre bearing the date and denomination numeral. Chinese characters appear in a panel at the top, above the issuer's title 'THE GOVERNMENT OF THE STRAITS SETTLEMENTS' and the legend 'PROMISES TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND AT SINGAPORE / TEN DOLLARS / LOCAL CURRENCY FOR VALUE RECEIVED'.
